Beginning August 4th, the bishop has assigned me your administrator. Effectively, there won’t be much changing from your perspective as parishioners. When I was your associate pastor, I would run all business by Fr Dominic to get his guidance and approval, and then put it into practice.
As administrator, I go directly to certain people at the diocese for that guidance and approval, and then put it into practice. This is the final step in preparing a priest to become pastor, and I am both honored and a little anxious to be taking this step with you. I am extremely thankful to Fr Dominic and my other previous pastors for the guidance and wisdom they have shared with me.
But I know there’s so much more to learn, and it’s the type of learning that needs to happen by doing, and it’s the scariest type of learning, because it can hurt. I will fail you, I will make
mistakes. Hopefully just small ones, but big ones are possible. So I ask this one kindness. Call me out on those mistakes I make. Question me on decisions. Ask for proof, reprimand me when I do something foolish.
That will be the greatest gift you can give me, helping me to learn and become better. To close, I want to be clear about the vision that I’ll be following as administrator. Of course in all things we will be following the directives of the Church, but I have a goal and 3 principles by which we will live out the directives of the Church:
The goal is this: by the time the bishop assigns me somewhere else, which is hopefully after I’ve been here the full 7 years, I want us to have a problem.
I want us to have the problem, of not having enough space. I want us to be such holy followers of Christ, that all of Portageville/Kennett is trying to get into this church every Sunday to worship with us. To reach that goal, here’s the 3 guiding principles we will follow:
Christ is King, We are His Subjects, We Live for Others
Jesus Christ is Lord, we follow Him, we listen to His voice. He is our shepherd, our leader. In Him we hope, we trust His guidance. Christ is everything to us. We follow Him as subjects, for we have bowed to His authority. We have given Him our loyalty. As we stand before our King, we see how weak and sinful we are, and yet Christ sustains us, and heals our wounds.
Our lives, everything we have and are, has been given to us. The only response to such great generosity, is to give generously of ourselves to all we meet. This is the guiding vision: that Jesus is the beating heart of this parish, we are his imperfect but beloved co-workers, and we will bring that love He shows us, to the world.

A partir del cuatro de agosto, el obispo me ha asignado su administrador. No habrá muchos cambios desde su perspectiva como feligreses. Cuando era su pastor asociado, le llevaba todos los asuntos al Padre Dominic para obtener su orientación y aprobación, y luego los ponía en práctica.
Como administrador, me dirijo directamente a ciertas personas de la diócesis para obtener esa orientación y aprobación. Este es el paso final en la preparación de un sacerdote para convertirse en pastor, y me siento honrado y un poco ansioso de dar este paso con ustedes.
Estoy muy agradecido con el P. Dominic y mis otros pastores anteriores por la guía y la sabiduría que han compartido conmigo. Pero sé que hay mucho más que aprender, y es el tipo de aprendizaje que ocurre al hacer, y es el tipo de aprendizaje más aterrador, porque puede doler. Te fallaré, cometeré errores. El objetivo es este: para cuando el obispo me asigne otro lugar, que es de esperar después de haber estado aquí los siete años completos, quiero que tengamos u proyecto.
Deseo queno tengamos el problema de no tener suficiente espacio. Quiero que seamos seguidores tan santos de Cristo, que todo Kennett esté tratando de entrar a esta iglesia todos los domingos para adorar con nosotros.
Para alcanzar ese objetivo, estos son los tres principios rectores que seguiremos: Cristo es Rey, somos sus súbditos, vivimos para los demás.
Jesucristo es el Señor, lo seguimos, escuchamos su voz. Él es nuestro pastor, nuestro líder. En Él esperamos, confiamos en Su guía. Cristo lo es todo para nosotros. Lo seguimos como súbditos, porque nos hemos inclinado ante su autoridad. Le hemos dado nuestra lealtad. Al estar de pie ante nuestro Rey, vemos cuán débiles y pecadores somos y, sin embargo, Cristo nos sostiene y sana nuestras heridas.
Nuestras vidas, todo lo que tenemos y somos, nos ha sido entregado. La única respuesta a una generosidad tan grande es darnos generosamente a todos los que nos encontramos. Esta es la visión que nos guía: que Jesús es el corazón de esta parroquia, somos su colaboradores de trabajo, imperfectos pero amados, y llevaremos el amor que Él nos muestra al mundo. Amén.
Options for Mass in the time of Covid
I’m seeing a lot of people coming back to mass, each week the church is a little more full, a little more like it should be!
I know things are still a little scary, cases seem to pop up here and there, so I wanted to remind everyone of the options they have.
Coming to mass on weekends is very safe, we are at 50% capacity in the church, so social distancing is happening (and we have options for overflow, so don’t worry about having a seat). We are completely sanitizing the church after every mass, and it is recommended that everyone wear a mask.
If you’re worried about being around more than a few people, our masses during the week never have more than 20 people present, so that’s a wonderful option.
Finally, we have Eucharistic adoration twice a week. It’s probably our safest option if you want to get back to church but are at risk. There is no contact between people, you can come and go as you wish, and so far we usually don’t have more than 5 or 6 people in the whole church. And if all of those options are still too potentially hazardous, I am more than willing to bring communion to you at your home.
Stay safe, and we continue to look forward to the day when we can all be back in church together!

Opciones para la Misa en tiempos de Covid
Veo gente que regresa a misa, cada semana la iglesia está un poco más llena, ¡un poco más como debería ser!
Sé que las cosas todavía dan un poco de miedo, los casos parecen seguir apareciendo, así que quería recordarles a todos las opciones que tienen.
Venir a misa los fines de semana es muy seguro, estamos al 50% de capacidad en la iglesia, por lo que se está produciendo un distanciamiento social (y tenemos opciones para desbordar, así que no se preocupe por tener un asiento). Estamos desinfectando la iglesia después de cada misa y se recomienda que todos usen una máscara.
Si le preocupa estar cerca de más de unas pocas personas, nuestras misas durante la semana nunca tienen más de 20 personas presentes, por lo que es una opción maravillosa.
Finalmente, tenemos la adoración eucarística dos veces por semana. Probablemente sea nuestra opción más segura si desea volver a la iglesia pero está en riesgo. SECOND COLLECTION Aug. 29-30 benefits the Mission Cooperative Plan
Unfortunately due to COVID-19, none of the missionaries will travel this year. Yet, without the missionary work of the Church, we would not be able to bring to life the command of Christ before he ascended into heaven: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations” (MT 28:19). Thank you for contributing to the missionary labor of the Church by supporting the Mission Cooperative Plan.
SEGUNDA COLECCIÓN 29-30 de agosto beneficia al Plan Cooperativo de la Misión
Desafortunadamente, debido al COVID-19, ninguno de los misioneros viajará este año. Sin embargo, sin la obra misionera de la Iglesia, no podríamos dar vida al mandato de Cristo antes de que ascendiera al cielo: “Id, pues, y haced discípulos a todas las naciones” (MT 28,19). Parish School of Religion Announcement
This fall, our parish will be doing religious education a little differently. Things may change in the spring, but for the fall, only the Confirmation class will be meeting in person.
We are asking parents to teach their children at home using the picture bibles we have for family use. Each Sunday, parents will have a New Testament story from the bible to discuss with their children, along with an activity.
Registration for PSR this year is free; however, please register your family beginning August 30 before or after mass. We will give you the book and lessons for your family to use.
First Communion classes will meet in person in January to prepare for receiving their first Eucharist.
Confirmation preparation will be held on September 13, October 11, and November 1. These classes will last three hours and mass will be part of the class. Confirmation is here at St. Cecilia on November 8 at 10:30am.

Anuncio de la Escuela Parroquial de Religión
Este otoño, nuestra parroquia hará educación religiosa un poco diferente. Las cosas pueden cambiar en la primavera, pero para el otoño, solo la clase de Confirmación se reunirá en persona.
Les pedimos a los padres que enseñen a sus hijos en casa usando las biblias ilustradas que tenemos para uso familiar. Cada domingo, los padres tendrán una historia del Nuevo Testamento de la Biblia para discutir con sus hijos, junto con una actividad.
La inscripción para PSR este año es gratuita; sin embargo, inscriba a su familia a partir del 30 de agosto antes o después de la misa. Le daremos el libro y las lecciones para que las use su familia.
Las clases de Primera Comunión se reunirán en persona en enero para prepararse para recibir su primera Eucaristía.
La preparación para la confirmación se llevará a cabo el 13 de septiembre, 11 de octubre y 1 de noviembre. Estas clases tendrán una duración de tres horas y la misa será parte de la clase. La confirmación está aquí en St. Cecilia el 8 de noviembre a las 10:30 am.
