Beginning August 4th, the bishop has assigned me your administrator.

Effectively, there won’t be much changing from your perspective as parishioners.

When I was your associate pastor, I would run all business by Fr Dominic to get his guidance and approval, and then put it into practice.

As administrator, I go directly to certain people at the diocese for that guidance and approval, and then put it into practice.

This is the final step in preparing a priest to become pastor, and I am both honored and a little anxious to be taking this step with you.

I am extremely thankful to Fr Dominic and my other previous pastors for the guidance and wisdom they have shared with me.

But I know there’s so much more to learn, and it’s the type of learning that needs to happen by doing, and it’s the scariest type of learning, because it can hurt.

I will fail you, I will make mistakes. Hopefully just small ones, but big ones are possible.

So I ask this one kindness. Call me out on those mistakes I make. Question me on decisions. Ask for proof, reprimand me when I do something foolish.

That will be the greatest gift you can give me, helping me to learn and become better.

To close, I want to be clear about the vision that I’ll be following as administrator.

Of course in all things we will be following the directives of the Church, but I have a goal and 3 principles by which we will live out the directives of the Church:

The goal is this: by the time the bishop assigns me somewhere else, which is hopefully after I’ve been here the full 7 years, I want us to have a problem.

I want us to have the problem, of not having enough space. I want us to be such holy followers of Christ, that all of Portageville\/Kennett is trying to get into this church every Sunday to worship with us.

To reach that goal, here’s the 3 guiding principles we will follow:

Christ is King, We are His Subjects, We Live for Others

Jesus Christ is Lord, we follow Him, we listen to His voice. He is our shepherd, our leader. In Him we hope, we trust His guidance. Christ is everything to us.

We follow Him as subjects, for we have bowed to His authority. We have given Him our loyalty. As we stand before our King, we see how weak and sinful we are, and yet Christ sustains us, and heals our wounds.

Our lives, everything we have and are, has been given to us. The only response to such great generosity, is to give generously of ourselves to all we meet.

This is the guiding vision: that Jesus is the beating heart of this parish, we are his imperfect but beloved co-workers, and we will bring that love He shows us, to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Del P. David (le\u00eddo en misas el fin de semana pasado)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A partir del cuatro de agosto, el obispo me ha asignado su administrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No habr\u00e1 muchos cambios desde su perspectiva como feligreses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cuando era su pastor asociado, le llevaba todos los asuntos al Padre Dominic para obtener su orientaci\u00f3n y aprobaci\u00f3n, y luego los pon\u00eda en pr\u00e1ctica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Como administrador, me dirijo directamente a ciertas personas de la di\u00f3cesis para obtener esa orientaci\u00f3n y aprobaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\u00ed que le pido esta amabilidad. Dime sobre esos errores que cometo. Preg\u00fantame sobre decisiones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ese ser\u00e1 el mejor regalo que me puedas dar, ayud\u00e1ndome a aprender y mejorar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para cerrar, quiero tener claro la visi\u00f3n que seguir\u00e9 como administrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por supuesto, en todas las cosas seguiremos las directivas de la Iglesia, pero tengo una meta y tres principios por los cuales viviremos las directivas de la Iglesia:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El objetivo es este: para cuando el obispo me asigne otro lugar, que es de esperar despu\u00e9s de haber estado aqu\u00ed los siete a\u00f1os completos, quiero que tengamos u  proyecto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deseo queno tengamos el problema de no tener suficiente espacio. Quiero que seamos seguidores tan santos de Cristo, que todo Kennett est\u00e9 tratando de entrar a esta iglesia todos los domingos para adorar con nosotros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Para alcanzar ese objetivo, estos son los tres principios rectores que seguiremos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cristo es Rey, somos sus s\u00fabditos, vivimos para los dem\u00e1s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesucristo es el Se\u00f1or, lo seguimos, escuchamos su voz. \u00c9l es nuestro pastor, nuestro l\u00edder. En \u00c9l esperamos, confiamos en Su gu\u00eda. Cristo lo es todo para nosotros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lo seguimos como s\u00fabditos, porque nos hemos inclinado ante su autoridad. Le hemos dado nuestra lealtad. Al estar de pie ante nuestro Rey, vemos cu\u00e1n d\u00e9biles y pecadores somos y, sin embargo, Cristo nos sostiene y sana nuestras heridas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nuestras vidas, todo lo que tenemos y somos, nos ha sido entregado. La \u00fanica respuesta a una generosidad tan grande es darnos generosamente a todos los que nos encontramos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Esta es la visi\u00f3n que nos gu\u00eda: que Jes\u00fas es el coraz\u00f3n de esta parroquia, somos su  colaboradores  de trabajo, imperfectos pero amados, y llevaremos el amor que \u00c9l nos muestra al mundo. Am\u00e9n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Options for Mass in the time of Covid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m seeing a lot of people coming back to mass, each week the church is a little more full, a little more like it should be!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I know things are still a little scary, cases seem to pop up here and there, so I wanted to remind everyone of the options they have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coming to mass on weekends is very safe, we are at 50% capacity in the church, so social distancing is happening (and we have options for overflow, so don’t worry about having a seat). We are completely sanitizing the church after every mass, and it is recommended that everyone wear a mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’re worried about being around more than a few people, our masses during the week never have more than 20 people present, so that’s a wonderful option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we have Eucharistic adoration twice a week. It’s probably our safest option if you want to get back to church but are at risk. There is no contact between people, you can come and go as you wish, and so far we usually don’t have more than 5 or 6 people in the whole church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if all of those options are still too potentially hazardous, I am more than willing to bring communion to you at your home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stay safe, and we continue to look forward to the day when we can all be back in church together!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opciones para la Misa en tiempos de Covid<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veo gente que regresa a misa, cada semana la iglesia est\u00e1 un poco m\u00e1s llena, \u00a1un poco m\u00e1s como deber\u00eda ser!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u00e9 que las cosas todav\u00eda dan un poco de miedo, los casos parecen seguir apareciendo, as\u00ed que quer\u00eda recordarles a todos las opciones que tienen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venir a misa los fines de semana es muy seguro, estamos al 50% de capacidad en la iglesia, por lo que se est\u00e1 produciendo un distanciamiento social (y tenemos opciones para desbordar, as\u00ed que no se preocupe por tener un asiento). Estamos desinfectando la iglesia despu\u00e9s de cada misa y se recomienda que todos usen una m\u00e1scara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si le preocupa estar cerca de m\u00e1s de unas pocas personas, nuestras misas durante la semana nunca tienen m\u00e1s de 20 personas presentes, por lo que es una opci\u00f3n maravillosa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SECOND COLLECTION Aug. 29-30 benefits the Mission Cooperative Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, a variety of religious communities involved in the missionary work of the Church around the world, are invited to send a priest to parishes of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau to preach about the ministry of evangelization that brings the Gospel to many struggling people in other nations.  Unfortunately due to COVID-19, none of the missionaries will travel this year. Yet, without the missionary work of the Church, we would not be able to bring to life the command of Christ before he ascended into heaven:  “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations” (MT 28:19). Thank you for contributing to the missionary labor of the Church by supporting the Mission Cooperative Plan. Simply write your check to your parish and note that it is for the Mission Cooperative Collection.  All funds will be processed by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith and then sent to each order for their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
