Next weekend (August 1st and 2nd) will be seminarian Nick Zummo’s last weekend with us as he gets ready to head back to Mundelein Seminary for the fall semester. It wasn’t the most normal of summer assignments, but he was a big help to me and we got a few things done that needed doing. Please join me in thanking him and wishing him well as he heads back to seminary!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DDF Update<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am so proud of our parish and how we are supporting the diocese during this time of Covid. It would be easy to sit back, and say “we’ll help next year,” but so many of you have given! If you haven’t given yet, there’s a follow up letter being sent out, so you still have a chance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seminarista de verano<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El pr\u00f3ximo fin de semana (1 y 2 de agosto) ser\u00e1 el \u00faltimo fin de semana del seminarista Nick Zummo con nosotros mientras se prepara para regresar al Seminario Mundelein para el semestre de oto\u00f1o. No fue la tarea de verano m\u00e1s normal, pero fue de gran ayuda para m\u00ed y hicimos algunas cosas que era necesario hacer. \u00a1\u00danase a m\u00ed para agradecerle y desearle lo mejor mientras regresa al seminario!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estoy muy orgulloso de nuestra parroquia y de c\u00f3mo estamos apoyando a la di\u00f3cesis durante este tiempo de Covid. Ser\u00eda f\u00e1cil sentarse y decir “ayudaremos el a\u00f1o que viene”, \u00a1pero muchos de ustedes han dado! Si a\u00fan no ha dado, se est\u00e1 enviando una carta de seguimiento, por lo que a\u00fan tiene la oportunidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night.
God said, \u201cAsk something of me and I will give it to you.\u201d
Solomon answered:
\u201cO LORD, my God, you have made me, your servant, king
to succeed my father David;
but I am a mere youth, not knowing at all how to act.
I serve you in the midst of the people whom you have chosen,
a people so vast that it cannot be numbered or counted.
Give your servant, therefore, an understanding heart
to judge your people and to distinguish right from wrong.
For who is able to govern this vast people of yours?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LORD was pleased that Solomon made this request.
So God said to him:
\u201cBecause you have asked for this\u2014
not for a long life for yourself,

and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant
searching for fine pearls.
When he finds a pearl of great price,
he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.
What is bad they throw away.

En aquellos d\u00edas, el Se\u00f1or se le apareci\u00f3 al rey Salom\u00f3n en sue\u00f1os y le dijo: \u201cSalom\u00f3n, p\u00eddeme lo que quieras, que yo te lo dar\u00e9\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salom\u00f3n le respondi\u00f3: \u201cSe\u00f1or, t\u00fa trataste con misericordia a tu siervo David, mi padre, porque se port\u00f3 contigo con lealtad, con justicia y rectitud de coraz\u00f3n. M\u00e1s a\u00fan, tambi\u00e9n ahora lo sigues tratando con misericordia, porque has hecho que un hijo suyo lo suceda en el trono. S\u00ed; t\u00fa quisiste, Se\u00f1or y Dios m\u00edo, que yo, tu siervo, sucediera en el trono a mi padre, David. Pero yo no soy m\u00e1s que un muchacho y no s\u00e9 c\u00f3mo actuar. Al Se\u00f1or le agrad\u00f3 que Salom\u00f3n le hubiera pedido sabidur\u00eda y le dijo: \u201cPor haberme pedido esto, y no una larga vida, ni riquezas, ni la muerte de tus enemigos, sino sabidur\u00eda para gobernar, yo te concedo lo que me has pedido. Te doy un coraz\u00f3n sabio y prudente, como no lo ha habido antes ni lo habr\u00e1 despu\u00e9s de ti. En efecto, a quienes conoce de antemano, los predestina para que reproduzcan en s\u00ed mismos la imagen de su propio Hijo, a fin de que \u00e9l sea el primog\u00e9nito entre muchos hermanos. En aquel tiempo, Jes\u00fas dijo a sus disc\u00edpulos: \u201cEl Reino de los cielos se parece a un tesoro escondido en un campo. El que lo encuentra lo vuelve a esconder, y lleno de alegr\u00eda, va y vende cuanto tiene y compra aquel campo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Reino de los cielos se parece tambi\u00e9n a un comerciante en perlas finas que, al encontrar una perla muy valiosa, va y vende cuanto tiene y la compra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tambi\u00e9n se parece el Reino de los cielos a la red que los pescadores echan en el mar y recoge toda clase de peces. Cuando se llena la red, los pescadores la sacan a la playa y se sientan a escoger los pescados; ponen los buenos en canastos y tiran los malos. Lo mismo suceder\u00e1 al final de los tiempos: vendr\u00e1n los \u00e1ngeles, separar\u00e1n a los malos de los buenos y los arrojar\u00e1n al horno encendido. All\u00ed ser\u00e1 el llanto y la desesperaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00bfHan entendido todo esto?\u2019\u2019 Ellos le contestaron: \u201cS\u00ed\u201d.
